Eckington Yards – NW Building
Washington, DC · Multifamily / Mixed-Use
Project Overview
New construction project in Northeast DC. Capital Energy Equipment furnished and installed a 4″-deep inverted blade equipment screen at the penthouse level to conceal and protect rooftop mechanical equipment while preserving service access and required free area for ventilation.
Challenge
Deliver architectural concealment adjacent to residential units while meeting wind load, corrosion resistance, and drainage requirements. Maintain intake and exhaust performance with minimal pressure drop and ensure safe maintenance access.
Solution
An inverted-blade profile was selected to limit sightlines and control water ingress. The screen system was panelized for removable access near RTUs and ERVs, with finishes and attachments coordinated for rooftop exposure and longevity.
Results
A clean, integrated rooftop appearance matching design intent; reliable airflow and drainage; and a durable, code-compliant installation that supports long-term maintainability.
