Advantage Digital Square VAV Diffuser (ADV)

The Acutherm ADV Advantage series is a digital VAV diffuser that combines precise electronic control with high-induction air distribution. A built-in room temperature sensor, microprocessor controller, and low-voltage motor continuously modulate airflow to maintain space setpoint while delivering excellent comfort, quiet performance, and energy efficiency.

Description

Product Model ADV — Advantage Digital VAV Diffuser
  • Model: ADV — Digital square plaque VAV diffuser
  • Size: 24" (600 mm) square face
  • Inlet Sizes: 6", 8", 10", and 12" round
  • Construction: Steel diffuser with powder-coat finish, aerodynamic damper, and integrated control panel
How It Works
  • A built-in room temperature sensor provides continuous feedback to the microprocessor controller located in the diffuser.
  • Using room temperature, duct/supply temperature, and user setpoint, the controller modulates the electric damper to maintain comfort.
  • Direct digital control (DDC) and a low-voltage, high-torque motor respond quickly and smoothly to even small changes in load.
  • PI (Proportional + Integral) control logic eliminates hunting and overshoot for stable room temperature control.
Key Features
  • Individual comfort and control for each zone or workstation.
  • Excellent air performance — high induction and consistent throw across the modulation range.
  • Maximum damper opening is factory-set by model and inlet size to maintain discharge velocity and prevent over-opening.
  • Electronic control panel with low-voltage motor, duct temperature probe, thermostat input, and auxiliary outputs.
  • Suitable for both new construction and retrofit projects replacing conventional diffusers.
Control Options
  • Wall-Mounted Thermostats: Multiple thermostat options from simple sensor-only to full LCD with occupancy or CO2 sensing.
  • Drone Units: “Drone” diffusers can track a single master ADV, matching damper position to meet the zone setpoint (up to five drones per master typical).
  • Auxiliary Heat Control: 24 VAC output for baseboards, radiant panels, or other terminal heating. Supports On/Off, PWM, or Pulse Delay Modulation.
  • BACnet Interface Option: Optional BACnet network interface for integration with a central BAS (room temperature, setpoint, and load can be shared).
Accessories
  • APM – Advantage Power Module: Central 24 VAC power source for multiple ADV units, reducing wiring and installation time.
  • ARC – Advantage Pressure Relief Collar: Collar-mounted bypass device that relieves excess inlet static pressure into the ceiling plenum as the diffuser closes.
  • PIM – Pressure Independence Module: For maintaining accurate flow under varying upstream static pressures.
  • DMS – Diffuser Measuring Station: Collar-mounted airflow sensor for diffuser CFM measurement and BAS reporting (with BACnet interface).

The Advantage diffuser family provides fast response, accurate temperature control, and system flexibility, while maintaining duct static pressure below recommended limits through proper pressure control strategies.
